WATCH: Deebo Samuel DESTROYS Cam Newton For Wild Text Exchange – But Turns Out There’s One MAJOR Problem…

It looks like former quarterback Cam Newton’s playing days are over. However, he’s doing a hell of a job staying relevant in the media world.

The latest drama involving Newton has to do with an apparent back-and-forth he had with San Francisco 49ers star Deebo Samuel.

The root of the situation goes back to when Newton called 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy a “game manager” on his podcast.

Fast forward to this week – While appearing on Kay Adams’ Up & Adams show, Samuel called out Newton.

“First of all, Cam Newton, stop texting my phone … You wanted me on your podcast like two weeks ago after talking about my quarterback, which is funny to me,” Samuel said.

Samuel posted screenshots of Newton’s texts which he was referring to…

However, there was one problem – Newton never texted Samuel … As a matter of fact, Newton claimed to not even have Samuel’s phone number.

“Deebo, my guy. Been a fan, still a fan. You must stop the cap, bro. You said something like, ‘Cam, stop calling my phone. I don’t have your number.’ Whoever’s calling you, that is not my phone calling you. It was so believable; I had to go back and say, ‘Did I reach out to Deebo?'” Newton said.

“I don’t have your number to call you or reach out to you. And if I do, put it out there for people to see. I want the receipt. Maybe somebody was reaching out to you that I don’t necessarily know. But it wasn’t me, homeboy. I know you’re emotional about the loss and you’re defending your teammate. As you should. I’m still a fan, you feel me.”

Sure enough, Newton was right. He never texted Samuel … Turns out Deebo was catfished by a bunch of kids.

Oh well. Unfortunately, Samuel’s not the first catfishing victim – and he certainly won’t be the last.

The thing that’s being lost in this whole story is the fact that Samuel had Purdy’s back 100% – which is exactly how it should be … Credit to him.

Regardless, hopefully those punk kids find something more productive to do with their time.

As far as the 49ers, how concerning was Monday’s loss to the Ravens?

Do you still look at them as legitimate Super Bowl contenders? … Are they still the favorites?

How far do you think they will go this postseason?

Regarding Newton’s initial comments which in a way started this whole mess – do you think Purdy is a “game manager,” or is he an elite quarterback???
