Trevor Lawrence’s Shoulder Problem: Not Major, But Still A Concern For Jaguars

In a strategic move to protect Trevor Lawrence’s future, Doug Pederson decided to sideline the young quarterback during the Jacksonville Jaguars’ game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. While this decision resulted in a challenging loss to Baker Mayfield’s team, it was motivated by the desire to safeguard Lawrence’s long-term well-being. However, an unsettling update on Lawrence’s condition may force the Jaguars to rely on CJ Beathard for the time being.

Reports from Ian Rapoport of the NFL indicate that Trevor Lawrence sustained a right shoulder sprain during the Buccaneers matchup, which led to his benching. Although the injury doesn’t appear to be severe, it did impact his throwing shoulder, casting uncertainty on his availability for the upcoming game against the Carolina Panthers.

According to Rapoport, “Trevor Lawrence suffered a sprained right shoulder, source said after the MRI. It’s not believed to be a major injury to his throwing shoulder, but it’s unclear how this affects his availability this week. Lawrence has basically played through everything in 2023.”

Despite the pain, Lawrence managed to deliver a commendable performance, amassing 211 passing yards and a touchdown. However, two interceptions and 12 missed passes on 29 attempts hindered the team’s progress before Beathard stepped in.

Fortunately, CJ Beathard provided a much-needed boost when called upon. He demonstrated efficiency by completing 11 of 15 attempts, resulting in a touchdown and 94 passing yards. Both quarterbacks could prove to be valuable assets as the Jaguars strive to maintain offensive stability in the face of these injuries. The question now is whether the Jaguars can secure a crucial victory amidst these challenges.
