WATCH: Reporter Makes The Fatal Mistake Of Asking Brian Daboll To Compare Tommy DeVito To Tom Brady…

In case you’ve been living under a rock, you’re very well-aware that New York Giants quarterback Tommy “Cutlets” DeVito has taken over the world.

Despite having a strong college career, DeVito miraculously went undrafted and ended up signing with his hometown Giants as an undrafted free agent.

Due to injuries to Daniel Jones and backup Tyrod Taylor, DeVito was thrust into the fire in what surely seemed to be another lost season for Big Blue.

But three straight wins later, Brian Daboll’s Giants find themselves just one game out of a playoff spot … Talk about miraculous.

Yes, the NFC “in the hunt” field is quite crowded, but the fact that Big Blue is still alive is absolutely crazy considering they looked like the second worst team in the entire league (sorry Carolina) for a long stretch of the season.

DeVito is the main reason for the sudden turnaround – and the Tri-State area has loved every single second of the journey.

Despite the hype and hoopla surrounding the local hero, Daboll is doing what any good would do and making sure that expectations don’t get too carried away.

Speaking of carried away, a brave reporter had the stones to ask Daboll the question that’s on everybody’s minds…

Building up to the question, he began to draw comparisons to another underdog quarterback who was very overlooked in his draft – Tom Brady.

Needless to say, Daboll shut down the premature comparison immediately.

“We’re four games in,” he abruptly said.

“That’s a long time ago,” he continued, referring to his time coaching Brady in New England. “I’d just say every situation is different. I couldn’t probably give you the answer that you are looking for.”

“I couldn’t give you a tangible story or anything like that. It was a different time, different players, different team, but obviously (Brady’s rise) is well-documented.”

The NFL has a penchant for drawing parallels between emerging quarterbacks and established low (or not) drafted legends like Kurt Warner or Tom Brady.

Every team aspires to discover the next diamond in the rough who transforms into a generational talent … Obviously it’s something that’s much easier said than done.

While acknowledging DeVito’s impressive performance in recent weeks, Daboll cautioned against premature comparisons to Brady or any other established quarterback great.

DeVito is 3-1 in his four starts with Big Blue. Yes, it’s a very small sample size – but he clearly has a command and presense each time he takes the field.

Underdog stories are great – especially when they involve a local angle … However, at the end of the day, you have to be able to play.

What makes this story so interesting is the fact that DeVito has certainly shown the ability to do just that. The types of decisions and throws he’s making are no fluke…

It goes without saying that it’s wayyyyy too early to start mentioning DeVito in the same sentence as Brady or Warner (or even Purdy).

However, if Tommy Cutlets keeps playing and progressing like he is … Who knows?

What are your thoughts on DeVito?

Better yet, what are your thoughts on his family and agent who seem to have become even more famous than he is!…

Now, the million-dollar question – Who is the Giants starting quarterback in 2024: Jones? DeVito? Someone not yet on the roster???
