There are quite a few dumpster-fires in college football – but perhaps none as bad as the USC Trojans.
Expected to contend for a national title, Lincoln Riley’s team has been an absolute disaster this season.
Vocal Riley-critic, ESPN’s Paul Finebaum has officially had enough.
Appearing on “The Matt Barrie Show,” Finebaum didn’t hold back in his assessment of Riley’s performance this season.
“I don’t know if I’ve seen a worse coaching job by anyone than Lincoln Riley this year. It’s a complete disaster. And, quite frankly, he ought to pack up. I don’t really see what his path is moving forward,” Finebaum said.
“(He) blamed everything on Alex Grinch. They haven’t been any better – they’ve been worse. Well maybe, Lincoln, you ‘ought to look in the mirror? … Maybe you’re just a total fraud as a coach? Maybe you just lived off of a couple of Heisman winners?”
“What Oklahoma did for you? All the people in Oklahoma who were heartbroken two years ago who never thought that they’d get over that blowoff? … They’re over it now. Lincoln Riley is nowhere near the coach that we all collectively tried to make him out to be.”
“Have you ever seen a college season ruined more than what Lincoln Riley did for Caleb Williams? … I said this a year ago that I thought it was really a shame that Bryce Young had such a terrible final year – he lost two games.”
“You have a generational quarterback and you finish 7-5?” … Ouch!

Riley, once highly-regarded for his success at Oklahoma, has seen his reputation take a massive hit at USC.
Despite a reported $110 million deal and an 11-3 record in his first season with the Trojans, Finebaum criticized Riley for not building a championship contender around Williams.

With Williams expected to depart to the NFL, Riley faces a very important offseason ahead.
What are your thoughts on Riley?
Was he just massively overrated all along?
Will he win a national title at USC in the next 5 years???
