Fresh off helping the Texas Rangers win the first World Series in franchise history, pitcher Jordan Montgomery is now a free-agent.
Looked upon as one of the most sought-after arms on the market, Montgomery is expected to have plenty of interested suitors.
According to reports, one club in particular has emerged as being most interested in Montgomery’s services – The Boston Red Sox.
In fact, the Sox have already had a meeting with the agents of Montgomery, according to Jon Morosi of the MLB Network…

The 30-year-old Montgomery, who split last season between the Cardinals and Rangers, demonstrated his impressive value on the mound.
He had a solid 3.20 ERA and a commendable 3.46 strikeout-to-walk ratio. Best of all, he pitched his best when his best was needed.
In the postseason, he made six appearances and pitched to a 2.90 ERA across 31 innings, contributing mightily to the Rangers championship run.

3.48 ERA/3.62 FIP
8.3 K/9
2.3 BB/9
1.0 HR/9

Acknowledged as one of the most sought-after free-agent starting pitchers in the league, Montgomery’s availability without a qualifying offer serves as a significant advantage for interested parties, including the Red Sox.
This means that any potential signing team will not be required to relinquish a draft pick, and the Texas Rangers will not receive any draft-pick compensation for his departure.
What are your thoughts on Montgomery?
Should the Red Sox be as interested as they reportedly are?
Where do you think he will end up???
