The hype and hoopla surrounding Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes has crashed faster than Sam Bankman-Fried.
Despite the disappointing turn the season has taken for Coach Prime and the Buffs, many believe that he will be staying at Boulder at least in the short term.
His son, quarterback Shedeur Sanders, will most likely be returning next season. As will two-way star Travis Hunter who is like another son for Deion.
However, don’t tell that to former running back turned analyst Reggie Bush who believes Coach Prime is about to jet.
According to Bush, he believes Deion will soon be heading to the NFL.
“In my opinion, Deion Sanders is one of the best coaches in football right now. NFL, college, I don’t care, he’s one of the best coaches,” Bush told Bleacher Report.
(Side note: We have to see a wholeeeee lot more progress before we start talking about Deion as one of the best coaches in all of football – but that’s a conversation for another day.)
Regardless, while Deion has previously stated that coaching in the NFL is not for him, Bush believes the move to the pros is inevitable for Prime.
“I have a feeling the NFL is going to come knocking on the door and I think that’s his rightful place is in the NFL,” Bush said. “Once his sons are gone, because I think what he’s doing with his sons is history. When’s the last time we’ve seen a head coach and the son is the star quarterback of the team? The script is writing itself.”

Bush is certainly entitled to his opinion – but a move to the NFL is probably unlikely no matter how interested teams may be.
Deion is an excellent teacher and role model, and you get the feeling he truly enjoys coaching at the college level and the positive impact he has on his players’ lives.
The chances of him staying at Colorado long after his sons are gone are probably slim … There’s no doubt bigger programs will come calling and chances are Deion will bite on one of them eventually.
