Former New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman recently shared an amusing anecdote involving a surprising encounter with San Francisco 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan.
The revelation unfolded during last Sunday’s FOX NFL Kickoff pregame show, where Edelman lauded Shanahan’s coaching genius and high football IQ.
In a reminiscent tone, Edelman recounted an unexpected exchange with Shanahan, who was then the offensive coordinator for the 49ers, during Super Bowl LII in 2018.
Edelman, who unfortunately missed the game due to an ACL injury, vividly recalled the bizarre scenario that transpired within the confines of the stadium’s men’s room.
“I’m sitting there in the bathroom at the Super Bowl, and this guy starts talking to me about a whip route that I ran in the Super Bowl the year before,” Edelman shared, still amused by the encounter.
“I’m like, what is this guy doing? I’m full out and everything. What are we doing here? So I go to wash my hands, the guy comes up to me and goes, ‘You don’t know who I am.'”
