With all of the wild conference realignment that has taken place across the collegiate landscape over the past few years, the question on top of everyone’s minds is what will end up happening with Florida State and Clemson?
It’s no secret that neither is happy with the ACC, and both would love to leave the struggling conference in favor of a stronger and more stable home.
Of course, the only two conferences that fit what they’re seeking is the SEC and Big Ten.
Many figure that the logical home for both would be in the SEC.
However, in the case of Florida State, it seems that neither the SEC nor Big Ten is all too interested in them.
According to Brett McMurphy of Action Network, the Seminoles aren’t regarded nearly as desirable as what some people – themselves included – think…
“Big Ten, SEC unlikely to add Florida State if it leaves ACC & ACC survives,” McMurphy reported on X.
“Big Ten and SEC don’t want FSU because adding FSU doesn’t make financial sense, no desire to expand and ‘they’ve been a disruptive partner,’ he added.
This revelation comes amid a flurry of rumors over the past year concerning potential realignment for Florida State.
Meanwhile, Clemson reportedly wants out of the ACC just as much – if not more – than the Seminoles.
They perhaps are seen as more attractive and valuable than Florida State is.
Either way, rumors are swirling that both Universities could soon be headed for the Big 12 which would sure make things interesting.
Of course, the 2024 season marks the official entry of Texas and Oklahoma into the SEC.
Meanwhile, in a far stranger move, the Big Ten will welcome in USC, UCLA, Oregon and Washington.
We all know why this bizarre conference realignment is happening, but it’s still going to take a whole lot of getting used to.
