“Million Dollar Marco” has struck again!!! (Don’t you dare act like you’ve never heard of him.)
Popular sports gambler Marco “Million Dollar” Piemonte recently showed off his massive $3.2 million parlay payout.
Interestingly, Marco was faced with an extremely tough decision as he entered the final leg of his parlay.
He had the opportunity to cash-out early and come away with $1.354 million – or he could have let it ride and held his breath.
It all came down to the Minnesota Timberwolves needing to beat the Dallas Mavericks in Game 4 of the Western Conference Finals.
Marco’s winning streak began with a bold move, wagering $200,000 on a 15/1 parlay featuring four bets, three of which were MLB matchups.
His picks – the Nationals (+110) over the Braves, the Giants (-135) over the Phillies, and the Rockies (+100) over the Guardians – all came through, with the Nationals and Giants securing 8-4 victories, while the Rockies triumphed 8-6.
With three legs of the parlay in the bag, Marco was on the edge of a significant windfall, needing only one more win to nail his massive parlay.
Of course, he decided to let it ride and never gave serious thought to cashing out early.
The odds on the Timberwolves winning were +110.
They were facing a 3-0 series deficit to the Mavericks in a series where they had been severely outplayed.
While it’s never easy to sweep anyone, no team in NBA history has ever overcome a 3-0 playoff series hole.
In situations like that, you have to try to get inside the minds of the team facing the daunting task and figure out if they’re tough enough competitors to fight for their lives rather than laying down and accepting the perceived inevitable.
Sure enough, Minnesota managed to reach deep down and pull out an improbable 105-100 victory.
Most impressive was the fact that the win came on the road at Dallas – a fact that made the whole situation even more risky.
However, the Timberwolves came through which meant that Marco won his parlay and walked away with an insane $3.2 million payout.
It should be noted that Minnesota went on to get spanked by the Mavs 124-103 in game 5.
In other words, Marco timed his wager perfectly.
“Million Dollar Marco” is no stranger to high-stake wagers.
Just last year, he walked away with a payout exceeding $1.5 million after the Philadelphia Eagles defeated the Kansas City Chiefs, thanks to a carefully constructed 13-team parlay.
