WATCH: An Honest & Emotional Jalen Hurts Opens Up About What He Desperately “Yearns” For In Philly … Can The Eagles Turn It Around??

With the 2024 NFL season slowly but surely creeping up, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts spoke about the changes on offense and the desire he has for some consistency and stability.

With Kellen Moore taking over as offensive coordinator, Hurts has yet another voice to get used to.

“I think as a player, I definitely yearn for the sustainability and the consistency there,” Hurts said. “As a quarterback, I yearn for those things in a play-caller and a quarterback coach because you kind of see how consistency in those areas can breed excellence.”

Hurts highlighted the parallels between his current situation and his collegiate experience, where he faced frequent changes in coaching staff.

Despite the challenges, he found success, particularly during his time at Oklahoma where he thrived under different play-callers.

The departure of Brian Johnson, who was promoted to offensive coordinator after Shane Steichen left for the Indianapolis Colts head coaching job, marks another shift in Hurts’ NFL journey.

The Eagles offense, which showed promise early in the 2023 season, struggled mightily down the stretch, prompting the coaching change.

“I think the best of him. He’s been a huge part of my development in my time here as an Eagle,” Hurts said of Johnson.

“I think he’s still more than capable of being a big-time head coach in this league. I think he’s on trajectory to do that still. I just didn’t think it was the right time for him, and that’s that.”

With Moore now leading the offensive charge, Hurts is eager to adapt to the new system.

He described himself as “a sponge” and expressed willingness to learn and adjust alongside the coaching staff.

“I’m just all ears. I’m a sponge. I think there’s some beauty in that,” he said. “I’m just in sponge mode. I’m letting them do what it is they’re going to do, and then we kind of adjust from there. I think the thing that we all have to understand is the importance of a foundation in something.”

“I want the coaches to declare their foundation in terms of what they want something to be, how they want it to look, and then obviously you’re going to adjust from there,” Hurts added.

While he certainly has a positive attitude, there is cause for concern among Philly fans.

After the Eagles prematurely signed him to an enormous five-year, $255 million extension, Hurts took a big step back last season.

2023 is a season that Hurts and the entire Eagles fan base just wants to forget.

The way things unraveled towards the end of the season was truly remarkable. Philly fans won’t soon forget just how lifeless the team was in their blowout loss to Baker Mayfield and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the playoffs.

What are your thoughts on Hurts and the Eagles as we head towards the new season?

Do you think it was a mistake to sign Hurts to such a massive deal so early? … Or are you convinced that he can be a franchise quarterback capable of winning Super Bowls?

If the Eagles underperform in 2024, should they hire Bill Belichick to replace Nick Sirianni???
