Opening Day in Major League Baseball is officially in the books.

One of the most humorous moments of Opening Day came out in San Diego where the Padres were kicking off their (stateside) season against the rival San Francsico Giants.
In the bottom of the sixth inning, with the Padres leading 2-1, slugger Manny Machado popped out to second base.
Frustrated by the poor outcome, Machado attempted to channel Bo Jackson by breaking his bat in half as he made his way back to the dugout.
Unfortunately, it didn’t go too well…

Observing Machado’s failed attempt, Giants broadcasters Duane Kuiper and Mike Krukow couldn’t help but comment on the scene unfolding before them.
“Manny Machado tried to do the Chili Davis and it didn’t work … That hurts!” Kuiper said.
“You can see the aggravation for Machado as he puts a bruise on his thigh,” Krukow added. “Only Chili Davis could break it. And Bo Jackson.”
“I think Bo Jackson did it without using his legs,” Kuiper correctly added…
“Yeah, he did it on his head,” Krukow humorously recalled, referencing Jackson’s legendary bat-breaking incident during a game in 1989.
Despite Machado’s embarrassing bat-breaking failure, the Padres managed to secure a 6-4 victory over the Giants.
Having already played two regular season games in South Korea, the victory improved San Diego to 2-1 on the season.
The Padres, determined to rebound from a nightmare 2023 season, are hoping for a big bounce-back year despite shedding significant talent from their roster.
