WATCH: Aaron Rodgers’ Advice To Fix The Jets Leaves Fans Baffled … Should This Really Be Their Priority??

When he forced his way to the New York Jets last year, it became painfully obvious that Aaron Rodgers was unfamiliar with the “curse” that many feel hovers over Gang Green.

Jets fans a tough bunch. They have been through hell and back more times than you and I can count. Yet, they survive, and keep asking for more.

One of the most loyal and certainly most underrated fan bases in all of football, Jets fans have been craving for a winner.

They thought the arrival of a four-time MVP the caliber of Rodgers would be enough to instantly turn around their fortunes.

With more hype surrounding the Jets than ever, things were certainly looking hopeful to say the least.

And then opening night happened…

To his credit, Rodgers rehabbed as hard as he could and almost made it back to the field prior to the end of the season, which would have been unprecedented.

Now nearly fully recovered, Rodgers is looking forward to the 2024 season.

“I gotta stay healthy, beat back Father Time a few more years. I like our chances. I like our guys. I like our coaching staff. We have to put it all together,” Rodgers said on the “Keep Hammering Collective” podcast.

One thing that last year proved was that the Jets still have a way to go.

Being the ultimate team sport that it is, no one player – not even a legendary quarterback – can win a game by himself, let alone a Super Bowl.

The Jets need to improve their roster, especially on offense, and especially on the offensive line.

However, if you ask Rodgers, he’s most concerned with resigning kicker Greg Zuerlein and punter Thomas Morstead.

Zuerlein, was tremendous last season, nailing 35 out of his 38 field goal attempts.

Meanwhile, Morstead was indeed an absolute weapon, averaging 48.8 yards per punt. He also became a very respected leader in the locker room.

In fairness, it’s not like Rodgers didn’t acknowledge that the team needs significant improvement. He did mention the need for offensive line and skill position help.

With Rodgers at quarterback, the Jets figure to be an attractive destination for veteran free agents.

Perhaps the biggest question facing the Jets is at head coach.

It’s no secret that under any other circumstance, Robert Saleh would have been long gone by now.

Saleh has routinely proven to be way over his head and often resembles a lifeless statue on the sidelines more than an actual football coach.

However, Rodgers is for all intents and purposes the general manager of the team (sorry Joe Douglas, but it’s true) – and he wanted Saleh to stay, so that’s exactly what happened.

Rodgers knows very well that the expectations remain sky-high and that the upcoming season will basically be a “run-back” of last year.

“We’ve got a fan base that’s super, super hungry and desperate for wins … I feel like if I’m out there, we’ve always got a chance,” he said confidently.

Sitting with the tenth overall pick in April’s draft, the Jets may very well take a top-level offensive lineman.

At last week’s Scouting Combine, nearly all of them spoke glowingly of Rodgers and how big of an honor it would be to block for him if drafted by the Jets.

What are your thoughts on Rodgers’ comments?

What do the Jets need to do to improve the team this offseason?

Would re-signing Zuerlein and Morstead guarantee a Super Bowl title? (Kidding.)

What is your (very) early prediction for Rodgers and the 2024 Jets???
