Former NFL star Marshawn Lynch is scheduled to stand trial this week in Las Vegas Municipal Court, nearly two years after his arrest for driving under the influence.
The trial follows an incident in August of 2022 when Lynch was apprehended on the Vegas strip.

According to prosecutors, Lynch’s blood alcohol level was nearly double the legal limit at the time of his arrest.
Officers at the scene described finding Lynch “asleep behind the wheel with the vehicle in an undrivable condition,” also noting that the car was unregistered.

Facing charges of DUI, driving an unregistered vehicle, and failure to drive in a travel lane, Lynch has maintained his innocence, pleading not guilty to all charges.
His defense team has argued that the evidence presented does not support the accusation of driving under the influence.
In court documents, Lynch’s attorneys stated, “While [the officer] claims to have ‘observed [sic] a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from the vehicle, his person, and his breath,’ no evidence proves that Mr. Lynch drank anything or actually operated the vehicle on the night of the encounter.”

Despite not playing in the NFL since the 2018 season, Lynch has remained active within the football community.
He has appeared on Amazon’s Thursday Night Football broadcasts with his own segments and has also made appearances in various films and television shows following the conclusion of his football career.
He also serves as a role model for many youths, especially in the Oakland area – in addition to playing a big brother role for several current NFL players.

Clearly, what happened on the Vegas strip that day is not one of Lynch’s prouder moments.
Having said that, he’s done a great deal of good in the football world.
Where do you rank him among the top running backs of his era?
Do you think he deserves to be a Hall of Famer???
