REPORT: Cowboys & Eagles NOT Ruling Out Hiring Bill Belichick … But Will His “Dream Team” Swoop In And Steal Him??

A large portion of Dallas Cowboys fans thought for sure that Jerry Jones was going to fire Mike McCarthy following their disastrous no-show loss in the Wild Card Round against the Green Bay Packers.

After careful consideration, Jones decided to stick with McCarthy which was a bit of a surprise.

Cowboys fans were already allowing themselves to get excited about the thought of Bill Belichick coming to Big D (at least a majority of them were).

Instead, we’re left with at least one more season of Big Mike … But one more season may be all it’ll be.

Jones made sure to leave the door open to the idea of Belichick replacing McCarthy in the future, possibly next year.

“I know (Belichick) personally, and I like him. There’s no doubt in my mind we could work together. None. None,” Jones said via Yahoo Sports.

Jones didn’t stop there with his praise for the six-time Super Bowl champion head coach.

“We all know that he’s certainly excellent, maybe at the top of his profession,” Jones said. “Is he maybe the greatest pro football coach of all time? Could very well be. He is a friend and I like him…and I want to make real clear: I wouldn’t have any problem working with him.”

However, Jones and the Cowboys might not be the only ones in their own division keeping a close eye on Belichick.

Privately, the Philadelphia Eagles have reportedly not ruled out the possibility of pursuing Belichick either.

According to Greg Bedard of Boston Sports Journal, there were rumors circulating during the Senior Bowl that the Eagles had shown great interest in Belichick prior to deciding to stick with current head coach Nick Sirianni.

“Probably the most interesting thing that I’ve heard, and again this is just Senior Bowl rumor mill, is that the Eagles were very interested in Belichick if things didn’t work out with Nick Sirianni,” Bedard said on 98.5 The Sports Hub.

Bedard also hinted that if Sirianni doesn’t rebound in a big way next season that the Eagles may look to replace him with Belichick.

“I’m now pretty convinced that the Eagles were one of those teams to backchannel through Bill,” Bedard added.

It is well known that Belichick’s dream has always been to coach the New York Giants.

He has a long history with Big Blue, dating back to when he was the defensive coordinator under Bill Parcells.

There’s speculation that if Brian Daboll doesn’t take a significant step forward next season, owner John Mara may look to replace him with Belichick.

In other words, there could very well be THREE NFC East teams keeping a close eye on Belichick as we head towards the 2024 season…

What are your thoughts?

Where do you think Belichick will end up?

Are you surprised that he hasn’t landed a job already???
