If you’re like me then you’re still getting used to not seeing Tom Brady on the football field – especially this time of year.
Regardless, it seems like he is indeed retired for good.
He is set to begin his FOX Sports broadcasting career next season when his 10-year, $375 million (!!!) contract kicks in … Many people are not too thrilled that he is indirectly kicking Greg Olsen to the curb (at least from FOX’s A-team).
Appearing on The Pat McAfee Show, his upcoming broadcasting career wasn’t the only thing Brady spoke about.
When asked about the New England Patriots decision to hire Jerod Mayo as their new head coach, Brady was very complimentary of his former teammate.

“Jerod was a great leader, a great captain, a great friend,” Brady told McAfee.
“Him coming back to coaching is great for the NFL and great for the Patriots. He’s got a great understanding of how things need to be done. I think Jerod does an incredible job relating to everyone in the locker room. I think he’ll do a great job,” he confidently added.

The bond between Brady and Mayo goes back to their playing days from 2008 to 2015, during which they won a Super Bowl together in the 2014 season.

Mayo’s familiarity with the “Patriot Way” is well-known … Brady even gave him the nickname “Jerod Belichick.”
We’ll see how things turn out for Mayo and the Patriots. It’s fair to say he has a whole lot of work to do in Foxborough.

In fairness, no one expected Brady to bash the Mayo hire – at least publicly.
It will be quite an adjustment for Patriots fans to go from Belichick to Mayo – and they’ll surely have to be patient.
What are your thoughts on the hire? … Was it a mistake to fire Belichick? (“mutual parting of ways,” my ass!!)
As far as Brady, do you wish he was still playing? … Is the NFL missing him at all?
