Pro Bowler Trent Williams Declares Intent for NFL’s 2024 Season with the 49ers

In the pursuit of a San Francisco 49ers title run, Trent Williams, the star left tackle, affirms his commitment for the upcoming 2024 season, dispelling any speculation of it being his swan song. As the 35-year-old prepares for the NFC Divisional Round clash against the Green Bay Packers this Saturday, Williams asserts he is “100 percent” returning for his 14th NFL season.

Having earned his 11th consecutive Pro Bowl nod in the current season, Williams shares the record with football legends Anthony Muñoz, Jonathan Ogden, and Willie Roaf for the most Pro Bowl selections among offensive tackles in NFL history. However, Williams expresses his desire to break the record and stand alone in this remarkable achievement.

Reflecting on his accomplishment, Williams shares, “I definitely dropped to my knees and thanked God because that’s not promised. You can have an amazing Hall of Fame career and still don’t see 11 Pro Bowls. So I’m super proud of that.” Despite missing two games, Williams received his third consecutive first-team All-Pro designation, underscoring his pivotal role in the dynamic 49ers offense.

The impact of Williams’s absence was evident when an ankle injury sidelined him for two games in October, resulting in the 49ers scoring only 17 points in losses to the Minnesota Vikings and Cincinnati Bengals. However, the team rebounded, winning six consecutive games before Williams suffered a groin injury in a Week 16 matchup against the Baltimore Ravens.

Finishing the regular season as the NFC West champions, the 49ers ranked second in total offense and third in scoring, allowing a mere 34 sacks throughout the season. Williams played a crucial role in aiding Christian McCaffrey to lead the NFL in rushing yards.

The upcoming clash against the Packers holds significant implications for the 49ers, and with Williams anchoring the offensive line, they aim to advance in the postseason. Kickoff is scheduled for 8:15 p.m. ET this Saturday as the 49ers host the Packers in what promises to be a highly anticipated playoff showdown.
