As we bid farewell to the 2023 college football season, the customary “way-too-early” top 25 rankings have already surfaced, and ESPN’s Mark Schlabach is among the latest to throw his predictions into the ring.
At the summit of Schlabach’s early rankings is Georgia, the formidable force that clinched back-to-back national championships in 2021 and 2022, spending much of the recently concluded season as the No. 1 team. Following closely is Texas, basking in the glow of its inaugural appearance in the College Football Playoff.
The top five is further populated by Oregon, perennial powerhouse Alabama, and perennial contender Ohio State. Michigan, freshly crowned national champions from last night’s title-clinching victory, holds a respectable No. 6 spot in the rankings. Meanwhile, Washington, the valiant adversary Michigan overcame in the championship game, secures the No. 11 position.
