Anyone who follows baseball in the slightest knows that Angel Hernandez is the worst umpire of all-time.
Having said that, he hit a new rock-bottom with his recent performance that ranked as one of the worst in MLB history.
According to Umpire Scorecards, a platform dedicated to rating umpires’ performance on a daily basis, Hernandez’s performance in Thursday’s Nationals-Pirates game was inexplicably poor.

Umpire Auditor, a renowned source for tracking umpire accuracy, reported that Hernandez missed a staggering 16 calls during the game, resulting in a correct rate of just 82.6%.
A failure rate that high for a MAJOR LEAGUE umpire is simply unacceptable.
Umpire Angel Hernandez called the worst game of the season yesterday and the worst since April 2022.
He only had to make 92 calls, but he missed 16 of them for a correct call rate of 82.6%.#Pirates #Nationals pic.twitter.com/TeTWosSGSD

Pathetically, Hernandez previously sued MLB alleging that racial discrimination was the reason why he was getting passed over for promotions and big-game assignments.
Obviously, the piss-poor performances he routinely churns out are more than enough reason to keep him far away from any promotions.
As a matter of fact, it’s an insult to baseball players and fans everywhere that Hernandez is still employed by Major League Baseball.
Imagine someone being as bad at a profession as Hernandez is with umpiring, yet still having a job with virtually no punishment?
Hopefully MLB isn’t keeping him employed just because they’re scared of getting sued.
Regardless, you can count on Hernandez going viral each and every time he umpires a game – and for all the wrong reasons…
Yesterday, Ángel Hernández had the lowest single-game accuracy rate calling balls and strikes of any MLB umpire in the last 5 years (according to @UmpScorecards) and I'm not even kidding. pic.twitter.com/6WM2QvQvSh

Hopefully Rob Manfred and the powers that be put an end to this madness after the season.
