Following the firing of Jimbo Fisher and the $76 million buyout that went along with it, Texas A&M is desperately searching for the right coach to finally get them on the championship track.
We’ve heard rumblings of Lane Kiffin, Dan Lanning, Mike Elko and even Urban Meyer.
As it turns out, A&M had a clear “dream choice” in mind – Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell.
Campbell played for the Aggies from 1995-1998 and has ended up proving himself to be a damn good football coach.
Unlike many others, you get the feeling Campbell would be as good a coach, if not better, at the college level than he is in the NFL.

Before Aggies fans get too excited, I have some bad news for you…
According to CBS Sports, A&M did reach out to Campbell’s camp to gauge his interest in taking over the program.
“After backchannel communications were initiated by the Aggies, it was made clear that Campbell would be staying in the NFL with the Lions,” the report stated.

Unfortunately, it seems like the Campbell dream is as dead as it was short-lived.
Who do you think A&M should target now???
