Although somewhat expected, the Buffalo Bills made the painful decision to release one of their most popular players, star safety Jordan Poyer.
Poyer will go down as one of the best free agent signings in Bills history. But sadly, his time with the team is over.

Poyer is credited with helping change the culture in Buffalo.
He was a respected leader both on and off the field.
As great of a player as he was, he was by all accounts an even better person.
Jordan Poyer changed the Bills trajectory and changed a lot himself during his time in Buffalo, as he’s talked about extensively. He is arguably the best free agent signing in Bills history. pic.twitter.com/ivEXoqhq0E

He came over from the Cleveland Browns following the 2016 season and has spent seven highly-productive seasons in Buffalo.
Quarterback Josh Allen may get the vast majority of the attention and credit for the Bills recent string of success, but Poyer’s relentless work-ethic and attitude have been equally as important. (Well, maybe not equal, but you know what I mean!)

Football fans have come to know Poyer’s wife, Rachel Bush, quite well for multiple reasons.
The couple do great charity work and Bush always enjoys speaking her mind on social media.
So it comes as no surprise that she took to Instagram with an emotional message shortly following her husband’s release…
“Right now I just want my husband to know what a leader and inspiration he is. The impact he made will always be remembered. Both within the football world and outside as well. You went into Buffalo and gave that city something they were longing for. Changed the culture.
“You’re special my love and what you have done is such an accomplishment. A true game changer! My All-Pro, in life and on the field! We love you! Here’s to new beginnings! Something we both always welcome with open arms as we love excitement,” she wrote.
During his seven-year tenure in Buffalo, Poyer was a constant and consistent force on the Bills defense.

He totaled 682 tackles, 48 pass breakups, 35 tackles for loss, 22 interceptions, and 11 sacks.

Poyer established himself as a force to be reckoned with, particularly during his standout seasons in 2021 and 2022.

Turning 33 years old next month, it’s fair to say that Poyer’s best years are most likely behind him.
However, he still offers fantastic value to any team looking for a veteran safety who will be a positive force both on the field and in the locker room.

In a way, the release of Poyer marks the end of an era for the Bills.
It’s a shame that they were never able to crack through and reach the Super Bowl.

What are your thoughts on the Bills releasing Poyer?
How much does he have left in the tank?
What type of contract do you think he’s deserving of and where do you think he will land?
As for the Bills, what do they need to do to finally get over the hump???
