Michigan concluded an outstanding 2023 season with a triumphant victory over Washington in the College Football Playoff National Championship Game on Monday, securing their first title since 1997 and maintaining an undefeated record of 15-0 for the season.

In the lead-up to the championship clash, Michigan faced a formidable challenge from Alabama, the SEC champions who had triumphed over Georgia. Despite being a staunch supporter of the SEC, Paul Finebaum conceded that if Georgia had secured a spot over Alabama, Michigan would still have emerged victorious.

Finebaum stated, “Michigan. I have said all along that I thought Georgia was the best team in the country, but after last night, I changed my mind.”

The unexpected endorsement from Finebaum, known for his allegiance to the SEC, underscores the immense respect he holds for Michigan’s prowess on the field. He further emphasized that Georgia had the opportunity to secure a CFP spot by defeating Alabama.

Michigan’s national championship in 2023 marks a significant achievement, ending a title drought that persisted since 1997.
